Hyundai Porto Half Marathon postponed to 2021

This is the message that no athlete would like to read, but it is also the message that no organizer would like to write.

Unfortunately and due to the public health emergency caused by COVID-19 and the recommendations of the Portuguese government, Runporto, in collaboration with the health authorities, has decided to postpone until 2021 the holding of the Hyundai Porto Half Marathon, which was scheduled for 20 September 2020.

According to the government's determination, the best conditions for all runners, families and children to participate in the event safely are not met, and postponing the event to 2021 is the most prudent attitude.

Organizing an event like the Hyundai Porto Half Marathon, where thousands of athletes participate, a lot of them foreigners and who intentionally travel to our country to participate in the race, will not be allowed by September this year.

Thus, it is with the families, children, runners in mind, but also all the employees and volunteers who would be gathered in the organization of the Hyundai Half Marathon in Porto, that we took this difficult decision.

Everyone's safety is our priority.

For participants already registered in the Hyundai Half Marathon in Porto, Runporto proposes three alternatives: transfer the registration to the 2021 edition, transfer the registration to the 2022 edition or change the registration holder. If the participant does not contact the organization, Runporto will assume that his registration will be automatically transferred to the 2021 edition. The change of the registration holder, or change of edition to 2022, must be communicated through the email to geral@runporto.com until July 31, 2021.

We'll be back soon!
